At home-coming ceremony of David Lekuta Rudisha held at Kilgoris township.

Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka was today among thousands of people who attended the homecoming ceremony of the 800 metres world record holder David Lekuta Rudisha held at Kilgoris township in Trans Mara district.

Mr. Musyoka said the Government appreciates the role played by sporting activities in promoting tourism among other development activities in the country.

The Vice President said it is high time the ministry of Youth and Sports enlists the names of all the athletes in the country so that their efforts can be recognized by Kenyans in the role they play in building the nation.

"It is time the ministry enlists the names of all the athletes in the country so that Kenyans can know them and recognize their efforts in the nation building," said Mr. Musyoka.

Mr. Musyoka said there is need for a centre to be established to ensure the welfare of the athletes upon their retirement from sporting activities.

The Vice President urged Kenyans to cultivate the culture of brotherliness and avoid engaging in activities which can create hatred and animosity among themselves.

"Kenyans should regard each other as brothers and sisters and respect each others opinion if we are to forge ahead as people of one nation," said Mr. Musyoka.
